On July 26, National Immigration Administration (NIA) held a regular press conference and released a report on the key data of immigration management in the second quarter of 2022.
In the second quarter of 2022, the national immigration authorities fully performed their functions in immigration management and spared no effort to meet people's necessary exit-entry needs. They actively took new measures to provide services to and facilitate enterprises in promoting their production and operation, offering strong support to optimize the business environment, spurring the vitality of the market, ensuring the stability of the industry and supply chain, and stabilizing fundamentals for foreign trade and foreign investment under the regular epidemic prevention and control. In the second quarter of 2022, a total of 32,293,000 persons entering and leaving China were inspected, with a quarter-on-quarter increase of 5.64 percent. A total of 2,217,000 transport vehicles were inspected, including 119,000 freight ships, planes, and trains, with a quarter-on-quarter increase of 2.17 percent, and an increase of 41 percent compared with that before the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2019. NIA issued 214,000 ordinary passports, with a quarter-on-quarter increase of 41.8 percent. Meanwhile, 140,000 stay and residence permits for foreigners in China were issued by NIA, representing a quarter-on-quarter increase of 49.9 percent.
