Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is located in the Wuling Mountains in northwest Hunan Province, in the middle and upper reaches of Lishui, one of the four major river systems in Hunan Province. In 1992, it was included in the “Natural World Heritage List” by UNESCO and in 2003 was labelled a UNESCO Global Geopark. There are more than 3,000 peaks in the park, and valleys between them with flowing streams and thick canopies overhead that cover the sun. It is known as the place of “three thousand strange peaks and eight hundred beautiful waterways.”
