The Palace Museum was established in 1925 at the Forbidden City, the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Built in 1406, the Forbidden City has a history of over 600 years. It covers an area of 1.12 million square meters and is the largest and most complete preserved ancient wooden architecture complex in the world. It represents the essence of ancient Chinese architecture. The Palace Museum currently has a collection of about 1.8 million pieces of ancient Chinese cultural artworks based on the cultural relics of the Ming and Qing imperial families.
