You can apply for a temporary driving license at the local vehicle administration office of the traffic administration department of the public security bureau where you enter China or reside, by providing your ID documents, such as a passport and valid visa, and overseas driving license. A temporary driving license can be used for multiple entries to China before the expiry date without reapplication. You can drive your own motor vehicle brought to China or a rented one in China with a temporary driving license. For those who bring their own motor vehicles to China, the type of vehicle should be the same as the one permitted on the temporary driving license. For those who rent motor vehicles in China, small cars and small automatic vehicles are permitted with a temporary driving license.
