According to the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China has reached an agreement with New Zealand on mutual visa exemption for flight crews of the two countries. The main contents of the agreement are as follows:

1. According to the principle of reciprocity, crew members (including crew members of a third nationality) on commercial flights from either country may enter and leave the other visa-free with valid passports within seven days. However, necessary crew information for each flight must be provided to the competent authority of the other party. Both parties reserve the right to deny entry or stay of personnel deemed inappropriate by each party's current laws and regulations.

2. After entry, if the aforementioned crew members have to continue their stay due to work shifts, illness, accident, aircraft failure, weather or other force majeure, they do not need to apply for visas within 7 days. Those overstaying 7 days (starting from the date of entry) for any reasons shall apply for extension of stay to the competent authority of the other party.

The agreement has taken effect as of March 23, 2007.
