Around 6.67 Million Border Crossings Recorded During Dragon Boat Festival Holiday

During this year’s three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, border inspection authorities across China processed around 6.67 million entries and exits by Chinese and foreign nationals, averaging 2.22 million per day, an increase of 12.9 percent compared with the same period last year. The peak of cross-border travel occurred on June 20, reaching 2.31 million crossings. Specifically, mainland residents made 2.92 million crossings, up 5.5 percent year on year; residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan recorded 2.97 million crossings, an increase of 18.4 percent; foreign nationals accounted for 777,000 entries and exits, representing a rise of 23.3 percent; among inbound foreign travelers, 266,000 entered under visa-free policies, up 15.2 percent year on year. A total of 305,000 inbound and outbound vehicles (including aircraft, vessels, trains, and motor vehicles) were inspected, marking a 16 percent increase over the same period last year.
