China Sees 11.279 Million Border Crossings Over May Day Holiday

Chinas border inspection authorities handled 11.279 million inbound and outbound trips during the May Day holiday, up 3.5 percent year on year. The daily average reached 2.256 million, with a single-day peak of 2.529 million recorded on May 2. Inbound and outbound trips made by foreign nationals rose by 12.5 percent to 1.255 million from a year earlier. Among those inbound trips, 436,000 came under visa-free policies, a 14.7 percent increase year on year. Inspections of means of transportation, including planes, ships, trains, and motor vehicles, grew by 16.6 percent year on year to 531,000.
