During this year's Spring Festival holiday (January 28 to February 4), the border inspection authorities across China facilitated 14.366 million exits and entries by Chinese and foreign citizens, indicating a year-on-year increase of 6.3% compared with the same period last year. Specifically, 7.671 million were made by the residents of the Chinese mainland, up 5% year-on-year; 5.737 million were made by the residents of Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and the Taiwan region, up 5.6% year-on-year; and 958,000 were made by foreigners, up 22.9% year-on-year. A total of 525,000 inbound and outbound trips by transportation vehicles (including planes, ships, trains and motor vehicles) were inspected, indicating a 14.4% increase compared with the same period last year. Smooth and orderly exits and entries were ensured at the land ports, seaports and airports across the country.

Following the unified arrangement of the National Immigration Administration (NIA), the border inspection authorities nationwide mobilized all of their police officers and took proactive measures. Predictions of peak hours of passenger flow at various ports were made and released promptly to notify and guide exit-entry travelers to make reasonable travel arrangements and avoid peak travel times. Besides resorting to better notification and enhanced guidance, the border inspection authorities deployed sufficient police officers and other staff workers, and opened an adequate number of inspection channels, to ensure that the time each Chinese citizen would spend queuing for entry or exit would be within 30 minutes. The border inspection authorities also closely collaborated with the joint inspection authorities (such as customs and quarantine authorities) to ensure the safe and efficient dispersal of high volumes of exit-entry travelers during peak hours, with sufficient transportation services provided. The relevant authorities have facilitated, to the maximum extent possible, the exits and entries of travelers, and jointly ensured the safe, efficient and smooth exit-entry processes at ports.
