According to the National Immigration Administration, as of March 7, the immigration management authorities had inspected 39.722 million inbound and outbound travelers and 2.487 million inbound and outbound vehicles nationwide since the downgrading of  COVID-19 management from Class A to Class B in China on January 8, with a year-on-year increase of 112.4 percent and 59.3 percent respectively. On February 25, the number of inbound and outbound travelers reached 1.013 million, exceeding one million in a single day for the first time since 2020. The immigration management authorities across the country have issued 3.362 million ordinary passports, 12.672 million endorsements for travels to and from Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR and Taiwan, and 122,000 visas and stay and residence permits for foreign nationals, an increase of 1220.9 percent, 837.7 percent and 33.1 percent respectively compared with the numbers before the downgrading of COVID-19 management.

According to Lin Yongsheng, Director-General of the Department of Policies and Regulations and the Press Spokesperson of the National Immigration Administration, the number of inbound and outbound travelers and the applications for exit-entry documents have grown sharply with the steady increase of international passenger flights and the complete resumption of the mainland's personnel exchanges with Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR after the downgrading of COVID-19 management from Class A to Class B in China. In the future, the immigration management authorities will seek to continuously improve their emergency plans as well as working plans and refine relevant measures according to actual situations. They will take efficient and practical measures to cope with the continuous increase in inbound and outbound travelers and applications for exit-entry documents, actively support and promote Sino-foreign personnel communication and exchanges, maintain the normal order of exit and entry, and ensure ports and borders are safe and stable. Specifically, they will strengthen the monitoring of the number of inbound and outbound travelers, open sufficient border inspection channels and exit-entry service windows, improve service guidance, and optimize relevant processes and procedures.
