According to the National Immigration Administration (NIA), the port arrivals and departures are estimated to reach 1.77 million on a daily average during the Spring Festival holiday, 8.9 percent up over last year.

For major air ports including Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and others, the peak of departure passengers was observed mainly on February 4 and 6, and the peak of arrival passengers mainly on February 9 and 10.

Major land ports welcomed the peak of departure and arrival passengers mainly on February 7, 8 and 9, such as Luohu Port, Huanggang Port, Shenzhen Bay Port, Futian Port, West Kowloon Railyway Station, Gongbei Port, and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The daily arrivals and departures are expected to reach 273,000 at Luohu Port, and to reach 358,000 at Gongbei Port on average.

NIA has made special arrangements on clearance services at ports during the Spring Festival holiday, requiring the border inspection authorities to make scientific forecast and release the situation of arrival and departure passengers in a timely manner. Sufficient police force shall be deployed and inspection capacity should be maximized during the peak period to actively guide passengers and ensure their safe and orderly exit and entry. It is required that the formalities shall take no longer than 30 minutes for Chinese citizens while the inspection and clearance efficiency for foreigners shall also be taken into consideration. At the same time, police forces shall be arranged to provide assistance to passengers in need, such as seniors, children and others with disabilities.

NIA reminds arrival and departure passengers to pay close attention to the changes of port passenger flows and customs clearance situation before the trip, and try to avoid travelling during the peak period. Passengers departing by air should arrive at the airport as early as possible to go through border inspection procedures. Passengers may always ask the police on duty for help if they have any difficulties during customs clearance.
