The Beijing Municipality held its 60th press conference on prevention and control of COVID-19 on March 24. Ji Lixia, deputy head of Beijing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection (hereinafter referred to as "Beijing Frontier Inspection"), briefed the media about the recent situation in entry and announced the collaborative investigation and penalties for a number of offenders who refused to follow the epidemic prevention and control policies.

Starting March 3, all persons destined for Beijing must be quarantined for medical observation at home or in a centralized manner for 14 days. The policy has then been adjusted to require centralized quarantine and observation for all personnel entering Beijing starting from March 16.

Through big data investigation, Beijing Frontier Inspection found that some individuals violated Beijing's epidemic prevention and control and quarantine policies, and some even travelled to and from countries with grave COVID-19 situations for daigou (or surrogate shopping) service.

Beijing Frontier Inspection forwarded the screening results in a timely manner. For Chinese mainland residents who intend to exit the country within the required quarantine period, they will not be allowed to leave the country according to the requirements of relevant authorities.

For foreigners who intend to re-enter the country within the required quarantine period after leaving the country, their entry will be denied and they shall be returned in accordance with relevant laws.

Recently, Beijing Frontier Inspection has already denied entry of four foreigners suspected of violating Beijing's epidemic prevention and control policies.
