Exit and Entry Passengers at Nationwide Ports during the New Year Holiday to Reach 1,740,000

As the New Year begins, everything is fresh and new. According to the forecast of the National Immigration Administration (NIA), during the New Year holiday in 2020, the number of exit-entry passengers at ports nationwide will reach 1,740,000, down by 3 percent year on year.

 

The exit-entry passenger traffic sees a notable increase at major airport ports, including Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. The arrivals and departures at the above four airports are estimated to reach 65,000, 99,000, 53,000 and 18,000 respectively, up by 9.5 percent, 6 percent, 17 percent and 14 percent year on year.

 

The exit-entry passenger traffic at land ports adjacent to Macao SAR sees dramatic growth. It is estimated that the number of exit-entry passengers at Gongbei and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge ports will reach 422,000 and 40,000, respectively, up by 14 percent and 11.4 percent year on year. The exit-entry passenger traffic at land ports adjacent to Hong Kong SAR is relatively declining. It is estimated that the number of exit-entry passengers at the ports of Luohu, Futian, Shenzhen Bay, Huanggang and West Kowloon Station will reach 198,000, 141,000, 120,000, 80,000 and 51,000, respectively. Compared with regular days, the exit-entry passenger traffic at border ports increases. It is estimated that the number of exit-entry passengers at Ruili and Dongxing ports will reach 51,000 and 41,000, respectively, up by 8.5 percent and 5.1 percent year on year.

 

NIA has instructed local frontier inspection authorities to strictly implement specified work requirements, which refer to publishing transportation information on traffic congestion and black spots, and reminding the public of traffic safety precautions in holidays. Frontier inspection authorities shall conduct scientific forecast and release their exit-entry passenger flow data in a timely manner, while arranging sufficient police force on duty, organizing services scientifically, and actively guiding the exit-entry passengers to travel safely and orderly.

 

NIA reminds exit-entry passengers to carefully check their exit-entry documents and those of their companions before traveling, and pay close attention to the conditions of passenger traffic and customs clearance of the ports, and try to avoid traveling during peak hours. In case of difficulties in customs clearance, passengers can seek help from the police officers on duty at any time.
