For the purpose of supporting Hainan's further opening-up, accelerating the building of the international tourism island, and continuously promoting the development and internationalization of tourism in Hainan, with the approval of the State Council, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) has decided to implement a visa-free policy for inbound tourists from 59 countries in Hainan province. The relevant matters are hereby announced as follows:

 

I. List of Countries Entitled to the Policy

Russia, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Norway, Ukraine, Italy, Austria, Finland, Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Belgium, Czech, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, United States of America, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Monaco, Belarus.

 

II. Content of the Policy

Where passengers from the above-mentioned countries travel to Hainan for tourism purposes with a regular passport and are received by travel agencies incorporated in Hainan, they may enter Hainan on a visa-free basis from an international port in Hainan and stay within the administrative area of Hainan province for 30 days.

 

III. Notes

Foreigners shall abide by the laws and regulations of China during their visa-free stay in Hainan, and are not allowed to travel beyond the permitted area or overstay the duration of their stay. For foreigners staying in hotels, the hotels shall register their stay in due course. For foreigners lodging or staying in residence other than hotels, the foreigners or their hosts shall register their stay with the local police station of public security authorities or foreigners service stations within 24 hours of their stay.

 

Foreigners that travel beyond the permitted area, overstay the duration or fail to have their stay legally registered shall be dealt with by public security authorities at or above the county level or exit-entry frontier inspection authorities in accordance with the Exit and Entry Administration Law of the People's Republic of China.

 

The policy in this announcement will take effect from and after May 1, 2018.
