What is new?

Starting from December 1, 2019, the following policies are applicable to all eligible foreign travelers into China:

144-hour visa-free stay is now applicable to eligible foreign travelers transiting via air ports in Chongqing and Xi’an.

144-hour visa-free transit policy effective at air ports in Ningbo, which is integrated and aligned to the common policy for Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai and allows transiting travelers to enter or exit via either air ports in Ningbo, or sea ports, land ports, air ports in Shanghai, air ports in Nanjing, or air ports in Hangzhou where the 144-hour visa-free transit policy has already been implemented.

The 144-hour visa-free transit policy of Chengdu air ports supports eligible visa-free stays in 11 cities including Chengdu, Leshan, Deyang, Suining, Meishan, Ya'an, Ziyang, Neijiang, Zigong, Luzhou and Yibin.

What ports will implement the policy?

After the extension, the 144-hour or 72-hour visa-free transit policy is now accessible to travelers from 53 foreign countries at 30 ports in 23 cities in 18 provinces (autonomous regions or municipalities).

To be more specific, the 144-hour visa-free transit policy is now effective at 27 ports in 20 cities/municipalities, while coordinated mechanism will be adopted for ports in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Yangtze River Delta region:

Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shenyang, Dalian, Qingdao, Chengdu, Xiamen, Kunming, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jieyang, Chongqing, Xi'an and Ningbo

The 72-hour visa-free transit policy is now effective at 3 ports in 3 cities:

Changsha, Guilin, and Harbin.

Which countries will benefit from the policy?

The 144-hour visa-free transit policy is now accessible to travelers from the following countries:

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, Russia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Belarus, United States of America, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.
