With the approval of the Ministry of Public Security, and the aim to better serve the construction of an aviation hub in Shanghai, starting from March 15, 2012, Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) has piloted the policy which exempts border inspection for 24-hour visa-free transit. Travelers entering China via the PVG and not leaving the restricted area of the air port can be exempted from border inspection.
