China Records 17.80 Million Exits and Entries During Spring Festival Holiday

During the Spring Festival holiday, Chinas immigration inspection authorities nationwide handled 17.80 million inbound and outbound trips, averaging 1.98 million per day, representing a 10.1 percent increase compared to the daily average during last year’s holiday. The single-day peak for inbound and outbound clearance occurred on February 21, reaching 2.26 million crossings. The breakdown included 9.51 million trips by mainland residents, showing a 10.2 percent increase in the daily average over last year; 6.97 million trips by residents from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, with an 8 percent increase in the daily average; and 1.31 million trips by foreign nationals, reflecting a 21.8 percent increase in the daily average. Among foreign arrivals, 460,000 entered under visa-free policies, representing a 28.5 percent increase in the daily average. A total of 705,000 inbound and outbound units of transportation, including planes, ships, trains, and motor vehicles, were cleared, representing a 19.4 percent increase in daily volume compared to last year.
