During this year's Qingming Festival holiday (April 4-6), the average daily number of exits and entries via ports across China is expected to reach 2.1 million, marking a year-on-year increase of 21.4%. Major international airports such as Beijing Capital, Shanghai Pudong, Guangzhou Baiyun, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, and Chengdu Tianfu will see modest growth in passenger flows, with projected daily averages of 39,000, 81,000, 48,000, 12,000, and 16,000, respectively. The land ports adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao SARs will see rapid growth in the numbers of travelers handled. Notable increases are projected in the numbers of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents and overseas Chinese returning home for ancestral worship. Specifically, the average daily numbers of exits and entries at Zhuhai Gongbei, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Qingmao, and Hengqin are predicted to reach 367,000, 123,000, 114,000, and 95,000, respectively. At Shenzhen Luohu, Futian, Shenzhen Bay, Liantang, and West Kowloon Station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, the numbers are expected to reach 249,000, 228,000, 160,000, 112,000, and 105,000, respectively.
Recently, the National Immigration Administration (NIA) issued specialized directives to ensure efficient border inspection operations during the holiday. The immigration inspection authorities nationwide are ordered to closely monitor passenger flows and port operations, and promptly release real-time traffic updates to assist travelers in planning their trips. The authorities are also required to deploy sufficient police officers and other staff workers, and open adequate inspection channels. Particularly, at the land ports adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao SARs and the ports with direct passenger transport services for Taiwan, enhanced guidance will be provided to streamline exit-entry processes for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents and overseas Chinese returning to their hometowns for ancestral worship. Collaboration with joint inspection authorities (such as customs and quarantine authorities) and local governmental authorities will be strengthened to ensure coordinated crowd management and transportation support during peak periods, to jointly ensure safe and efficient port operations.
NIA hereby advises all inbound and outbound travelers to stay updated on information about the passenger flows and exit-entry situations before trips, and check the validity of their travel documents, visas and endorsements. Those requiring assistance during exit or entry may contact the China Immigration Service Hotline 12367 or seek help from on-duty immigration police officers.
