With the 7-day-long National Day holiday approaching, there will be a strong demand for cross-border trips among Chinese and foreign tourists, and ports across China will record peak volumes of individuals entering and exiting the country. The National Immigration Administration (NIA) predicted that the daily average of trips made by inbound and outbound tourists will reach 1.75 million during the National Day holiday, up by 18.5 percent from the same period last year. It is expected that the peaks of inbound and outbound tourist flows will mainly occur on October 1 and 6. The exit-entry passenger flows at large international airports will increase steadily. Notably, Beijing Capital International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport are expected to record daily 43,000, 83,000, 45,000 and 17,000 entries and exits on average respectively. The passenger volumes at the land ports connecting Hong Kong and Macao SARs will remain high. The daily averages of the entries and exits at Gongbei Port and Qingmao Port of Zhuhai, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and Hengqin Port are expected to reach 320,000, 104,000, 81,000 and 75,000 respectively, while those at Luohu Port, Futian Port, and Shenzhen Bay Port in Shenzhen, and Hong Kong West Kowloon Station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link are expected to reach 199,000, 173,000, 118,000 and 89,000 respectively.
For the coming holiday, NIA recently implemented an array of special measures for border inspection at the ports across China. Specifically, the border inspection authorities in China are required to intensify the monitoring of exit-entry traveler volumes and port operations, and promptly provide details of exit-entry traveler volumes of the respective ports to help inbound and outbound tourists better make travel arrangements. Also, to ensure that the time each Chinese citizen spends waiting to complete the exit or entry procedure will not exceed 30 minutes, the border inspection authorities will enhance their reminder and guiding services, deploy enough on-duty officers and other staff workers based on reasonable grounds, and open enough inspection channels. Moreover, the border inspection authorities are required to enhance collaboration with joint inspection authorities at ports and other relevant local authorities, to ensure the safe and efficient dispersal of high volumes of exit-entry tourists during peak hours, and provide sufficient transportation services, to jointly ensure the safe, efficient and smooth exit-entry processes.
NIA hereby advises Chinese and foreign tourists who will enter and exit China to keep updated on the changes in passenger flows at ports and exit-entry services before traveling, and check whether the travel documents and visas are valid. When leaving China, Chinese citizens should know about the security situations, climate changes, natural disasters, epidemic situations, transportation, entry policies and other necessary information on the destinations in advance, raise safety awareness, make travel plans based on sound grounds, and stay aware of personal and property safety. For any difficulty encountered during the exit and entry processes, please feel free to call the China Immigration Service Hotline 12367 or ask for support from the on-duty immigration administration police officers.
