According to the National Immigration Administration (NIA), during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday in 2024, the border inspection authorities across China facilitated a total of 5.256 million exits and entries made by Chinese and foreign citizens, with a daily average of 1.752 million, increasing by 18.6 percent compared with the same period last year. Specifically, Chinese mainland residents made 2.632 million inbound and outbound trips, reflecting a 15.1-percent year-on-year increase. Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents made a total of 2.07 million exit-entry trips, representing a 7.3-percent year-on-year increase. The exit-entry trips by foreign nationals reached 554,000, marking a 62.2-percent increase over the data in the same period last year. In addition, the border inspection authorities nationwide inspected 242,000 entries and exits of transport vehicles (planes, trains, ships, and motor vehicles), indicating a 37.6-percent year-on-year increase.

Under the unified arrangement of NIA, the border inspection authorities across China rigorously implemented the "Two Announcements and One Reminder" policy. Specifically, the border inspection authorities across China made predictions of passenger flow at ports nationwide, based on sound grounds, and released the relevant data to help Chinese and foreign exit-entry travelers make proper travel plans. To ensure that the time each Chinese citizen would spend queuing for entry or exit would be within 30 minutes, the border inspection authorities opened adequate inspection channels and deployed enough staff. Furthermore, the border inspection authorities enhanced collaboration with other relevant authorities to deal with the challenges caused by intense rain and severe convection weather, ensuring the timely and efficient dispersal of high volumes of travelers and the safe, efficient and smooth exit-entry processes at ports across China.
