Everything takes on a new look at the beginning of a new year. According to the statistics of the National Immigration Administration (NIA), the border inspection authorities across China inspected a total of 5.179 million visitors entering or exiting the country during the New Year's holiday, with an average of 1.726 million visitors crossing the border daily, increasing by 4.7 times compared with the same period in 2023 and returning to the 2019 levels. There were 2.51 million entries and 2.669 million exits. In addition, a total of 203,000 vehicles were inspected, 1.5 times higher than for the New Year's holiday in 2023.

Under the unified arrangements by NIA, the officers of the border inspection authorities across China were mobilized to provide services by anticipating peak entry and exit times at all ports to keep the public well-informed of the relevant information, and assisting travelers in itinerary planning to help them stagger their trips. The border inspection authorities have also made efforts to improve the efficiency of services, increasing the staffing for law enforcement, ensuring sufficient inspection capacity, and providing inbound and outbound visitors with enough channels for inspection, to ensure safe, smooth, and orderly customs services for Chinese and foreign nationals exiting and entering China during the New Year's holiday.
