A Total of 2,029 Visa-free Entries Witnessed on First Day of Implementation of New Visa-free Entry Policy for Six Countries

On December 1, the first day of China's implementation of the visa-free entry policy for French, German, Italian, Malaysian, Dutch and Spanish citizens holding ordinary passports of their countries, a total of 2,029 visa-free entries from the six countries were recorded. Malaysian citizens topped the nationals from the other five with a total number of 1,113, while French citizens were responsible for the largest day-on-day increase of 52.31 percent, with a total number of 227. According to the statistics, the number of individuals entering China from these six countries increased by 12.54 percent over the previous day.

According to an official of the National Immigration Administration (NIA), the border inspection authorities nationwide have worked to optimize police force deployment, strengthen on-site guidance, open enough inspection channels, and ensure more efficient clearance at ports of entry and exit for the smooth implementation of the new visa-free entry policy and the enhanced personnel exchange and cooperation between China and other countries and regions. NIA is also guiding the exit/entry administration authorities of local public security organs to facilitate the stay and residence of foreign nationals having entered China without visas in accordance with the laws and regulations.
