The statistics of the National Immigration Administration (NIA) showcased that during the 2024 Qingming Festival holiday, border inspection authorities across China facilitated the exit/entry of a total of 5.189 million Chinese and overseas travelers. The daily average of travelers reached 1.73 million, reflecting an increase of 69.6 percent compared with the same period last year. Among all the travelers entering/exiting the Chinese mainland, the number of the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents totaled 2.267 million, marking a 35.9-percent increase year on year, while the number of the Chinese mainland residents reached 2.422 million, representing a 101.7-percent increase year on year. The number of the foreign nationals entering/exiting the Chinese mainland during the holiday reached 500,000, indicating a 163.2 percent increase compared with the same period last year.

Under the unified arrangement of NIA, the border inspection authorities across China rigorously implemented the "Two Announcements and One Reminder" policy (i.e. announcements of the information on the predicted passenger flow and plans of queuing, and reminders of traffic safety). Specifically, the information on the predicted passenger flow and the crowd control measures were released in time to help Chinese and overseas exit-entry travelers make proper travel plans, and, consequentially, to secure their safe, orderly trips. To ensure that the time each Chinese citizen would spend queuing for entry or exit would be within 30 minutes, the border inspection authorities opened adequate inspection channels for efficient and smooth exit-entry services.  Given the significant number of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents returning to the Chinese mainland for tomb-sweeping and ancestral rites, the fact that the majority of these travelers were senior citizens, and other related issues, special inspection channels were established to ensure their smooth trips. Additional assistance was also provided for the elderly, children, and others facing mobility challenges. During the Qingming Festival holiday this year, ports across China provided exit-entry services in a safe, efficient, and smooth way.
