China's vice minister of Public Security and administrator of the National Immigration Administration (NIA) Xu Ganlu met with the Inspector General of the Namibian Police S. H. Ndeitunga and exchanged views on China-Namibia law enforcement cooperation at the Ministry of Public Security on July 22 in Beijing, China.

Xu noted that China and Namibia are comprehensive strategic partners with traditional friendship established by leadership of previous generations and remaining common treasure for the two countries. Guided by the consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Hage Geingob during their meeting, China is ready to work with Namibia and exchange in-depth views on issues of mutual concern.

Xu pleasantly recalled his visit to Namibia this June, briefed on the progress of the consensus reached by high-level officials of bilateral law enforcement departments and proposed considerations for the next phase.

China is to invite high-level officials of Namibian law enforcement departments to visit China. Invitations will be made to Charles Namoloh, Namibian minister of Safety and Security, to attend the Lianyungang Forum at the end of the year, and Frans Kapofi, Namibian minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, to visit China at appropriate time. Officials at all levels of Namibian law enforcement departments are welcome to visit China.

Steps will be taken to promote establishment of the first Chinese Community and Police Cooperation Center in Namibia. China hopes Namibia will continue supporting the construction of the center, while China's Ministry of Public Security and the Chinese Embassy in Namibia will give their full support in this regard.

Also, joint efforts will be made in the fight against wildlife crime. The two sides could strengthen the sharing of intelligence clues at the Interpol level and solve cases in cooperation. Cooperation will be enhanced also in training of the law enforcement personnel. China will prioritize arrangements for specific trainings proposed by Namibia.

Ndeitunga expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from China’s Ministry of Public Security and agreed with Xu's proposals. He said that China is one of the earliest countries to establish diplomatic ties with Namibia. From the profound friendship between Namibian Founding President Sam Nujoma and Chinese Chairman Mao Zedong, to the common farsightedness of President Hage Geingob and President Xi Jinping, Namibia-China friendship passes on from one generation to the next, and the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries moves pragmatically forward. Namibia-China cooperation in law enforcement, although starting late, is expected to develop rapidly for greater results.

Xu also exchanged views with Ndeitunga on the Safe City Project.

Ndeitunga was at the invitation of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation leading a delegation to visit China. Relevant officials from the International Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, and Department of General Affairs and Department of Foreigners Management of NIA attended the meeting.
