Labor Day Holiday Sees 10.896 Million Exits and Entries

During this year's Labor Day holiday (May 1 to 5), the border inspection authorities across China facilitated a total of 10.896 million exits and entries by Chinese and foreign nationals, averaging 2.179 million daily trips. This marks a 28.7% increase compared with the same period last year. The single-day peak was recorded on May 3, reaching 2.297 million trips. Specifically, during the holiday, the residents of the Chinese mainland made 5.778 million trips, reflecting a 21.2% year-on-year increase; the residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan made 4.003 million trips, up 37.1% year-on-year; foreign nationals made 1.115 million trips, indicating a 43.1% year-on-year increase. Regarding the inbound trips made by foreign nationals, 380,000 were made under visa-free policies, marking a 72.7% surge compared with the same period last year. A total of 456,000 exits and entries by transportation vehicles (including planes, ships, trains and motor vehicles) were inspected, representing an 18.1% year-on-year rise.
